For now, spamming left-click is usually best with the M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun . Supposedly this will change soon.
The Rashad Mk III Combat Axe is a nice all-rounder, taking care of hordes with a Push attack > Light spam (the Push attack has great cleave, stacking Headtaker quickly, and enough impact to stagger Scab Rager/Dreg Rager) and single-targets with Heavies. Possibly the simplest melee moveset in the game. This plus Shredder Frag Grenade handle groups while the M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun gets guaranteed crits and some attack speed from Ranged Specialist, letting you pop priority targets quickly.
The animation cancels for reloading the M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun help greatly with its long reload time. There are three: one as soon as the tank falls out (ammo drops to 0), again as your character taps the tank back in (a slight sound plays; you don't have to wait for your character to screw it back in), then as soon as the vent rotates (ammo goes back up to full). Utilizing this means there's no need for Volley Adept or Tactical Reload.
