Evolved version of my previous Hive Scum build (https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/a0bc2a94-0f40-4da0-8686-3a56367439b5/cast-on-crit-cyclone). This variant is more self-reliable and durable, and doesn't have as much trouble keeping up Chemical Dependency with a 53s cooldown as opposed to 60s.

Although more durable, you are still not a supertank. Barrage I, Chem Fortified and Hive City Brawler combined offer great TDR and regen to survive in some sources of DoT and the more occasional stray hit from a melee enemy, but your dodges are still your primary source of defense. At full health and stamina, you can tank a single Mauler and Crusher overhead, though don't rely on it. Use blind grenades for large groups of elites or if you are surrounded. You get em back pretty quick, but don't be overzealous.

General strategy is the same as usual - spam lights on everything smaller than an Ogryn and let the crits do the work. Shivs damage is worthless without crit boosts. On Ogryns and bosses (not captains), heavy loop is your main source of damage. Dualies are your sniping secondary that you can use to kill specialists and pick off the occasional gunner in the distance. Bolt Pistol from the other build is still viable here if you prefer it.
