Use smite to push people off edges, you can turn and let go to fling them in the direction you are looking. Or put them on their butt and with high peril cleave and apply skull crusher around along with enfeeble. Also useful to help someone doing an objective or going for a rez.
Don't use smite as a crutch, don't just hold it down. Folks got abilities that they need to dodge for and it makes the game boring. The game is more fun when you're actively killing.
Staff is great for killing on the run and will hit like a train if you stack up DD and Scriers.
