Description
Melee: Krourk Mk IIa “Cruncher”
The Krourk is chosen for its strong charged heavy swings and natural crowd control.
- Hammerblow IV stacks Impact on hit (up to 5 stacks). This turns your swings into consistent stagger tools, letting you control dense packs and keep elites off balance so you can finish them or create space for the team.
- Unstoppable Force IV adds damage to fully charged heavies and lets those attacks ignore enemy hit mass. Combined with the Krourk’s swing profile, this lets you cleave through mixed hordes and still land meaningful damage on priority targets.
Perks of +25% Damage vs Carapace and +25% Damage vs Flak cover the most common elite and specialist armor types you’ll face. The result is a melee weapon that handles both horde control and single-target pressure without needing constant swaps.
Ranged: Foe-Rend Mk V Ripper Gun
The Ripper serves as mid-range suppression, special deletion, and armor support rather than a primary damage source.
- Can Opener IV applies up to 40% Brittleness on special hits. This is the main reason for the weapon — it softens carapace and other tough targets so your melee (and the rest of the team) deal significantly more damage.
- Blaze Away IV rewards continuous fire with stacking Strength (up to 5 stacks). This improves damage, stagger, and cleave while you’re dumping the magazine into a pack or a special.
Perks of +25% Damage vs Maniacs and +25% Damage vs Flak align with the threats the Ripper is best at handling at range. Use the special liberally on armored elites before switching back to the Krourk.
Talent Tree & Ability Focus
The tree is built to support an aggressive frontline playstyle centered on the left-side path and the highlighted ability node.
Key priorities visible in the path:
- Mobility and engagement tools so you can close distance and create space with the charge-style ability.
- Toughness regeneration and damage reduction nodes that keep you functional in prolonged fights.
- Stagger and impact synergy talents that amplify Hammerblow and the Krourk’s natural control.
- Supporting nodes for toughness on hit / elite kill and general durability so you can stay in melee longer.
The overall shape of the tree favors staying in the fight and converting control into damage rather than pure glass-cannon or pure tank. The central and lower sections reinforce this by tying toughness recovery and combat efficiency to the weapons you’re actually using.
Playstyle Summary
Lead with the Krourk. Use charged heavies to stack Hammerblow and control space, then finish priority targets. When an armored elite or dense pack appears, switch to the Ripper, apply Brittleness with the special, and dump rounds with Blaze Away before returning to melee. The ability is used to reposition, knock groups off balance, or create an opening rather than as a pure damage tool.
This setup is strongest when you play as the primary melee presence: you control the engagement, soften tough targets for the team, and stay alive through toughness and stagger rather than pure avoidance. It performs well on high Havoc and Auric when you manage your charged swings and use the Ripper’s special efficiently.
