This is a build I originally created just to hit some Penances I hadn't yet, but it's turned out fun and effective enough to share. Is it meta high tier? Probably not, but if you thought Ranged Ogryn was too all-in, and wanted something closer to a Melee/Ranged Hybrid that still dealt a lot of damage, maybe give it a go!
Between Coward Culling and Valuable Distraction the amount of damage you can force enemies to take is astounding, and most ranged threats should melt before you while you use your enhanced Toughness regen and Braced machinegun to eat bullets; with your magazine refilling from crits while Lucky Bullets guarantee way more crits, you usually won't need to reload in the middle of a given encounter. Still, sometimes you encounter a truly absurd amount of guns, and Big Veterans are a LITTLE more fragile than a typical frontliner ogryn; but that's what the shield is for; letting you decide based on the situation whether you want to be outputting damage or absorbing it.
Essentially, the Stubber is for mowing down large single targets (like bosses) or mowing down/thinning out hordes before they completely finish closing the distance. Use your Loyal Protector's initial stagger to buy time to swap your focus or in general to give you a small second to breath while applying Valuable Distraction. While you're not a dedicated tank, you're still much tougher than your allies and can afford to take a few hits in melee while gunning down Specialists or Elites if it'll save the team, ESPECIALLY the ranged Specialists, who are pretty much all vulnerable to being suppressed and taunted at the same time.
If this build has any major weaknesses, it's simply that element of being more fragile than a normal Ogryn; you have to occasionally actually think about cover, and also you lack Armor Penetration entirely. Consider bringing a Pickaxe instead of the shield if you think sacrificing that defense is worth it; I've played the build with both.
Feel free to fiddle and adapt to your personal playstyle in general!
