Description
Rumbler, is this guy serious?!? ya, I am.
This build focuses around being… the Lynchpin of the team. If you don't have a team that's working together this build will be crap.
So lets go through the reasons for all this
-------
Shield - this build is not designed for those of you that want to wade into battle and watch things fall at your feet. Its designed for the player that wants to be more useful than an single player can possibly be solo. The shield allows you to duck behind and regen your toughness and stamina, it also allows you to single handly tank plague ogryns and deamons. It is the best tool for team damage mitigation out there when used correctly.
-------
Rumbler, this is going to get a few people but here's my reasoning. The rumblers special attack turns you into baby Ruth, swinging for the fences but it also counts as a heavy attack. From what I can see its the fastest “heavy” attack the Ogryn has. Since its a heavy attack it applies bleeds. This means you can smack bulwork 6 times with it very quickly and duck behind you shield and watch the bulwark melt away. Its use many times will be applying rapid bleed to larger enemies before swapping to your shield. But thats just a bonus. Its primary use with this build is it's fantastic crowd control. The rumbler has the largest area for knock down and can single-handedly hold a stairway, knocking everything on its butt for your team to easily mop up. It also allows you to help allies that are surrounded but not near you. Pop a single grenade into the horde that's surrounded your psycher and watch him leisurely stroll away. This allows your crowd control and covering abilities to be omnipresent, deployed at a moments notice, to anywhere its needed. Lastly, it has enough kick to stagger and interrupt charging dogs, indispensable when solo considering ogryns lack luster dodge. Again it can also be used to prevent your scoped in veteran from being charged from behind. More than that It one shots most things when hit in the head.
Furthermore, it can be bounced into the enemy ogryns dangly bits. The bounce hit still does full impact dmg (which also ignores carapace armor) and lands at their feet giving a high chance of just knocking them on their butts when the explosion goes off. With enough practice you can even bounce it under a bulwarks shield and knock him down.
Mostly this weapon allows stagger, knock down and crowd control to be deployed to your allies when you cant physically be there. Sensing a theme? yes, the theme is support tank. Glory to the emporer not to you, not to the team, only the Omnissiah.
-------
Best form of defense - because as I said the special attack of the rumbler counts as a heavy attack and it is a horizontal swing so your always hitting more than one enemy. I wish Lynchpin would gives you way more bang for the buck because it affects more than just you but even if your taking no damage from being behind your sheild you wont start regeining toughness so you need some way to survive. Lynchpin would have synergy with towering presence but unless it gets tweeked a bit I cant reccomend it because you really never stop taking dmg as an ogryn so you never have a chance to start to regen doughness. As much as lynchpin helps the team, you being down every 20 seconds because you cant regen toughness is more of a hinderance than a help.
-------
Blood and Thunder - The heavy attacks of the shield is amazing CC. It is admitedly one of the slowest heavy attacks but combined with knife through butter it will knock down entire waves of hordes so heavy attacks are done frequently with the shield so why not let them bleed when they are down. This is also going to be one of the main ways we reduce our damage with this build. Unlimited cleave allows us to easily apply dozens of bleed stacks allowing us to max out our damage reduction from bloodthirst in a single heavy attack. Heavy attack once take 50% less damage? Yes please.
Secondly, as I said before (because that's how much synergy this build has) Your baseball bat… err grenade launchers special attack counts as a heavy attack. Bleed can be applied through shields, so bang your bat against the bulwark shield 6 times and watch him bleed to death in seconds. You'll do no actual damage to him but the bleed is applied anyway. (my guess is that this will get patched at some point though)
------
Towering presence - Because its about making your TEAM as effective as possible. A longer coherency leash is something everyone will love. And the synergy with Lynchpin is too good to ignore. I know, I know… A lot of people like bullfighter so they can bullrush more often but bullrush should be used tactically (aka sparingly) because often times it puts you way out of position and leaves your team mates scrambling. How many times have you had your ogryn standing between you and the hordes, a bulwark against a wave of death (as he should be) only to watch him bullrush off and let the wave of doom come crashing onto you. Bullrush happy ogryn are greedy ogryn and greedy ogryn are not loved by the Emperor.
------
Blood Thirst - Because taking a bleed applying ability and then not synergizing with it is silly. The point of this build is CC and Tank. 50% less damage is pretty hard to argue with with that's the goal. Someone is going to take damage, as an ogryn your goal is to make sure you're the one taking it and the most efficient thing (numerically) you can do is take half as much. As I said, one heavy swing with the shield and youll get 50% which is the equivilant of having 2 downed members for hard as nails only with blood thirst you get it all the time. With die hard you only get regen when your under 25% which unless your full grims should not be that often.
------
Knife through butter - Again it's all about the synergies. Unlimited cleave means unlimited bleed which means full 50% dmg reduction with a single swing of the shield. also its like having a rumbler wrapped in razor wire. Swing for the fences and everything bleeds…. everything.
------
Bull Gore - Synergies again. Also the other talents do what we talked about before, they promote the use of bullrush which unless your charging toward an ally, puts your out of position of your other allies. With this build we're looking to minimize our running around, if you want to do that, play a zealot which is what nonstop violence basically turns you into so, no on that.
Now an arguement can be made for unstoppable because it allows you more CC and you can use the longer charge distance to get to teammates in need. But remember, our rumbler is ranged CC so we already have a way to quickly (as we sprint to them) provide CC to out of position teammates. Bull Gore how ever allows us to instantly stack our 50% dmg reduction by applying bleeds as well as do a bunch more damage over time.
------
Curious - These are pretty flexible, just go for toughness regen to synergize with the talents and lessen the time you need to spend not behind your shield anchored. The shield cannot block fire, so I like the dmg reduction from flamers and bombers but alot of that is going to be individual choice.
------
This is the patient ogryns build. Its about team play and maximizing benefit from your talents for the team, not just you. It is a thankless build and an oft unnoticed style of play that will provide far more team benefit than any other selfish, charging all over the place kind of build.
