For Shield, you ideally want to be able to oneshot bruisers with heavy 1 headshots. Brutal Momentum blessing and Flak perk help ensure this, although the Flak perk might be overkill

 

Gorgonum is a bit slow for my liking, but if you like it stick with it!

 

I recommend my curio setup. Technically three toughness curios is almost always optimal, but Ogryn does get a lot of mileage out of one health curio so feel free to use one

 

I really like having both heavy attack toughness talents for comfort, as well as the two +25 toughness nodes, really helps you shrug off more bullets and glancing blows without having to block as often

 

Blitz doesn't matter much; I only dislike rock since it locks you into Slam, which I don't think is as good as Soften Them Up.

 

Valuable Distraction makes Taunt a lot stronger, and rewards using it proactively. Bully bosses with this for sure! Especially since Taunt staggers most bosses anyway

 

Batter synergises with Delight In Destruction later, increasing your tankiness. Also increases your singeltarget dps a bit for boss contributions.

 

Heavy Hitter is a very natural Keystone for the Shield weapon, since you'll be spamming the heavy attack! For optimal play, you'll want to do Heavy 1, block cancel, Heavy 1, block cancel, repeat. This lets you snipe for headshots with limitless cleave, allowing respectable horde clear against weak targets, and strong stagger against scarier enemies like Ragers.
