You'll have 270 toughness and Voice of Command. You're comfortable at the front, clubbing everything in your path.

As with every Vet build, your grenades are important. Use them to help soften waves, and create breathing space, e.g. to revive allies.

Make sure to use your Weapons Specialist buff: When fully engaged in melee, swap to the shotgun, kill something, and swap back. The attack speed is very noticeable

Shotgun

This weapon is surprisingly accurate. With the slug, it's a sniper, and even without the slug, it's very accurate at medium range.

The main use of the shotgun is to take out disablers & specialists, it only takes 1 slug, or 2-3 regular shots (depending on range). Learn to make headshots.

If you see a specialist/disabler and have an empty shotgun you played it wrong.

It's a fast weapon, especially with "One Motion", so you can take out specialists while in melee.

Reload whenever there's time, even if it's just 1 shot. Load slug whenever possible, they're usually better.

Tactical Reload only activates if you START with ammo. So if you're ever at 0 don't reload until you're full. First load a slug then reload. Or if you started the reload, interrupt it with a slug, then continue reloading. "Always Prepared" will help a lot in preventing that.

Sometimes it's ok to just unload, e.g. into the back of a Beast of Nurgle, or into a group of elites to soften them up. That's not the weapon's purpose or strength though.
