A build put together because I was thinking one day 'you know, it sucks they never really made a Fireball staff in game/haven't put one together yet. The Infernos Staff is cool but is just a flamethrower, and my Trauma Staff build that uses Blazing Spirit is neat but it doesn't really give you the 'long range yeet' one thinks of when it comes to Fireball. I really wish they did have something like tha- OHH WAIT!'. And then I remembered Blazing Spirit exists on the Voidstrike staff, and you can pair it with Surge for that glorious Fireball gameplay. Unlike with the Trauma staff you don't need to 'fight' for your True Aim proc's either, and get doubly rewarded for getting to them with 8 instant soulblaze stacks on the wave that get spread all around, with the potential to get even more if you killed an elite/specialist unit for that Perilous combustion Proc. Feels rather good, even if I had to drop the knife that was originally on this build to 'feel good about it' (which honestly wasn't doing all that much anyway thanks to no attack speed and 'bar minimum' crit). Felt so good I even augmented a build on Victor to use this set up on the Voidstrike too, with a bubble instead and Souldrinker, and that felt quite fantastic as well. Only thing to keep in mind (at least for me) is that unlike my other builds, you don't get Warp Flurry. So while you do 'spam shots' down range often, one has to remember you gotta consistently charge the same amount and not take bits off each time. That, or what I normally do for both builds is go in and melee a bunch of stuff, get my true aim up, then fire 'as charged a shot as I can manage' into the wave/an armored line of targets approaching. This then starts them all on fire, and I keep slashing to keep it active and spread before I can send another 'fireball' into the wave, and rinse repeat. You'll still 'post up' and snipe things as it gets close to you as well, but thanks to the Voidstrike being able to headshot you're working toward your 'fire ball' either way, and can just consider them 'firebolts' before that point. You can stack it up and fire it off with primary fire shots too, which can be nice when desiring to just burn something like a reaper or boss down with quick hits to the dome for constant soulblaze application. Beyond all that, just push attack into a light swing for a sweep attack that hits all the heads even while using the VI, or pull it out whenever anything scary actually gets to you and heavy chop/poke it to death. Kinetic Deflector + Deflector keeps you safe when you find you're toughness getting low, and Shriek lets you get those nice 'above max stacks' soulblaze hits while giving you a bit of extra wave clear and instant quell toughness. Prescience + the Crit node let you fire shots down range and *sometimes* get lucky with extra Fireballs before your guaranteed one when needed, and Disrupt Destiny keeps you topped off on toughness while boosting your crit and headshot damage so you can cleanly kill Bulwarks/Crushers/Reapers/Maulers with a Voidstrike Crit to the head. A build I wasn't entirely expecting to work but was instead pleasantly surprised at how effective it is (including the 'Blazing Dome' version), and will definitely be one of my main ones in the future. Because who doesn't love casting FIREBALL! (also yes the splash damage spreads Soulblaze like with Trauma Staff so you can one shot a bunch of stuff then let the soulblaze start ticking the rest that lived, which is the main reason why this works so well/feels as good as it does. Instant 8 stacks on the wave is no joke).
