Description
Basics
This build uses Brain Rupture (BB/ Brain Burst) plus Kinetic Flayer to delete specials and elites. You will proc this using Soulfire (fire dots) from multiple talents in this build. Each tic of soulfire has a chance to activate BB when it is not on CD (thanks to the change earlier this year(?) it now procs every time (TM) it's not on CD) and, so we use this to help get rid of elites and specials hiding behind hordes. It's also helpful if you are not able to one shot a special and it escapes. The main focus of this build is MELEE and quick-swaps to ranged to kill specials/elites. You can kill crushers with this build, but it requires crits or specific weapons, so be careful. Bulwarks are not much of an issue if you avoid the shield. There is a talent swap listed below for switching to staff build, but it may not be the best/ most efficient staff build.
This build also uses the Warp Siphon keystone to essentially give you 100% uptime on Scrier's Gaze. This greatly depends on difficulty and elite kills, but in general you will often find yourself ready to ult as, or even before, your current ult is done.
Talent Options
- Switch Essence Harvest and Inner Tranquility if you want in keystone.
- You can easily switch this build to a BB Soulfire staff build by switching Scrier's Gaze to Venting Shriek + Creeping Flames. Don't forget to get rid of Melee Damage Boost so that you have the 3 talent points needed to do this.
Trinkets
Can Sub one HP Trinket for Toughness. Toughness will inevitably break at some point so you want HP to keep chip damage from downing you. This is why a lot of baby psykers go down, do not trust toughness! Your regen is more than enough.
Weapons
You can run this setup with most melee weapons; I recommend:
- Catachan Mk VI Combat Blade (Stamina, Maniac | Riposte, Lacerate)
- Obscurus Mk II Blaze Force Sword (Crit Chance, Maniac Dam | Riposte, Blazing Fire)
Covenant Mk VI Blaze Force Greatsword (Crit Chance, Elite Dam | Riposte, Precognition)
This gives you decent horde clear but doesn't sacrifice anti armor. That said, use what works for you. I personally hate greatsword, but a lot of people love it. Generally use Mobility/defense as a dump stat. And don't be afraid to change weapon perks etc. if you disagree with me.
Any anti-special ranged weapon such as:
- Zarona Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver (Crit Chance, Elite Damage | Point Blank, Hand Cannon)
- Godwyn-Branx Mk IV Bolt Pistol (Carapace, Crit Strike | Point Blank, Deadly Accurate)
Equinox Mk IV Voidstrike Force Staff (Crit Chance, Crit Damage | Warp Nexus, Blazing Spirit)
You can also use Ius Mk IV Shredder Autopistol, as shown in the build, to help with additional BB proc's for quick elite kills in mixed hordes. This is super fun and comes with a nifty flashlight.
This is a guide. Do not be afraid to tweak your build and weapons for what works for you. You may need more/less tank than I do or like more damage, etc. That said, I HIGHLY recommend using this trinket setup. I have not tested this on Havoc and likely won't until they add quickplay. This will work on Auric and Auric Maelstrom. For the Emperor, I'm sure.
