The MK3 Boltgun benefits heavily from the Stagger effects of the Arbites, however if more burst for Monstrosities and Crushers is required, then the Mk2b Boltgun is excellent for that.
Whenever your Toughness breaks, or you are about to take a ton of damage, like from Poxbursters, go ahead and activate Castigator's Stance, and you will effectively be invulnerable while at 10 stacks of Forceful. (Make sure to block the Crusher attacks.)
