TALENT SWAPS
A few different flex plays here based on your team composition.
- Annoint in Blood & Enemies Within, Enemies Without are purely for the Flamer DPS & Survivability. If you feel confident in a Shrieking Psyker then you can switch both for
- Bleed for the Emperor and Restoring Faith. These will grant more survivability
- Movement Speed Boost and Hubris will give a smoother more consistent survivability
- Abolish Blasphemers and Unseen Blade will give more DPS.
- Or any combo
H40 TIPS
A few tips when playing the character
- Don't Be Passive. -
- Just to level set: the most bizarre thing about Chorus Zealots in H40 is how many of them are nonexistent in combat.
- You are not here to play pacifist and show off a bright and shiny toy every 30 seconds.
- You are actually one of the most active, high APM characters and builds in the game.
- You can hit 1M damage while everyone else around you is doubling your damage.
- Chorus - More specifically Chorus Dysfunction aka CD.
- CD unfortunately happens to many Zealots. Every Havoc 40 Zealot will experience Premature Chorusing at some point.
- ED jokes aside...
- Here is your guide to the ability
- For the love of Emperor and all things beneficent - STOP Chorusing when nobody is around.
- Your Toughness & Coherency will automatically restart and anyone low/out of toughness will get it back.
- Since there are no enemies then so much for procs of Invocation of Death to get CDR.
- You are now effectively half of your build going into the next fight.
- Did I say stop doing this?
- 'Uptime' in Chorus is #1 Priority
- Okay maybe one more ED joke... But using your melee weapon to proc crits to trigger faster CDR to use more Choruses is your primary focus
- Being nonexistent in combat means your CDR is worse, and your ability is used even less.
- Horde density considerations
- Very dense -
- IF Chorus is ready - This is the trickiest part. You want to pull as much aggro to cause it to clump up, especially Rotten Armour. This will allow you, as well as many other allies/builds to maximize damage potential.
- Then Chorus
- IF Chorus is NOT ready - Switch to flamer, and dodge away from attacks. Be as close as possible to maximize Anoint in Blood damage boosts. Keep flaming until you have to switch back to melee to fight or run away.
- Again, engage until you get chorus back. Re-evaluate horde density and repeat.
- IF Chorus is ready - This is the trickiest part. You want to pull as much aggro to cause it to clump up, especially Rotten Armour. This will allow you, as well as many other allies/builds to maximize damage potential.
- Medium to Small density - don't Chorus unless someone is getting overwhelmed. You always want Chorus available when things get out of control.
- This is where the biggest mistakes happen. People will Chorus when no threat is present. Then when things do get out of control their ability isn't ready.
- You effectively neuter your build when you need it most.
- Very dense -
- For the love of Emperor and all things beneficent - STOP Chorusing when nobody is around.
- Frontlining & De-aggro'ing AKA Offensive Chorusing - One of the most overlooked mechanics of the ability is using this proactively to advance forward, and/or shut off Gunner/Reaper threats.
- I can't tell you how many times I've played with a Chorus Zealot and they would hide behind things, and/or complain about "too many gunners/reapers/bombers" and then proceed to say something like "someone needs to do something about it"...
- Um... yeah, it's YOU.
- Very often you will see someone Chorus, then just stand there. This is a waste of the ability.
- Yes, you don't run any faster, but you can side dodge your way around the map.
- Here is how to maximize your CC and AoE effectiveness of Chorus
- Advancing forward - Sprint+slide+attack glitch with DS4 to advance forward and get as close as possible.
- Only Chorus if you screw up and start taking damage
- For Gunner/Reaper threats - Chorus then side dodge your way around the map. It only takes 1 pulse for them to become stunned (unless there are certain modifiers), and the AoE is huge meaning you dont have to go as far as you think to proc.
- For Allies taking damage - Chorus then side dodge your way towards them and get their toughness into the Gold. Everyone on your team should be making their way towards you. If not, you make your way towards them.
- Advancing forward - Sprint+slide+attack glitch with DS4 to advance forward and get as close as possible.
- I can't tell you how many times I've played with a Chorus Zealot and they would hide behind things, and/or complain about "too many gunners/reapers/bombers" and then proceed to say something like "someone needs to do something about it"...
- Chorus Pulsing & Ecclesiarch's Call - Let the pulsing run it's course. If you don't then you wont receive the damage boost.
- Also, have your head on a swivel because Mutants, and Boss stomps will knock you out of the animation
- Plus, watch out for the most lethal enemy in the game: ladders. Those too will stop your animation and you will lose the ability
- Clutch Revives - Since we are running ~45% revive speed, and Chorus, you are the primary medic or assist on the field.
- When NOT to Chorus - Few people around and no imminent threat of Gunners or overheads
- Just revive. I'd probably say 20-30% of your revives the character will be shocked at first how quickly they spring back up.
- When to Chorus -
- When in a sea of bodies. Chorus to clear.
- Use the Frontlining & De-aggo'ing tactics outlined for Gunners/Reapers in addition to approaching the downed teammate.
- If no one shows up you have a window to revive without getting hit at all.
- When in a sea of bodies. Chorus to clear.
- When NOT to Chorus - Few people around and no imminent threat of Gunners or overheads
- Boss Fights - As Zealot, you will be able to solo any boss in the game. Sure Nurgles will be annoying but you have dodges, heavy attacks, parries, and any corruption will be cleansed away via Beacon of Purity.
- If any Special shows up, peel away and knife them. And go back to the boss.
- Boss Yeets
- Bait the boss towards you and the yeet location
- Block, then absorb the first hit, then dodge around them
- Chorus them into the chaos void
