HAVOC 40 | DOG, MAUL & BOLT
Here is my H40 build for running an all-around, versatile Special, Elite and Boss killing Arbites.
BUILD CONSIDERATIONS
MELEE
- Arbites Shock Maul.
- Carapace, Unyielding
- Execution, High Voltage
RANGE
- Spearhead Boltgun IIb.
- Unyielding, Ranged Weakspot (or Flak)
- Cavalcade, Puncture
CURIOS
- +17% Toughness - Combat Ability, Revive Speed, Gunner Resist
- +3 Stamina - Combat Ability, Revive Speed, Stamina Regen
- +21% Health - Combat Ability, Stamina Regen, Gunner Resist
This Curio setup of Toughness, Stamina, and Health is my default for Arby.
The +21% Health puts you in a great position to have 3 True Grit procs and survive. It then gives a little leeway for any other chip shots you might take.
Then the +3 Stamina helps with many stamina intensive builds I run with the Arby giving me a pretty standard feel regardless of what I build.
Also, the character just oozes toughness. No need to add more.
TALENT SWAPS
Here are the options and tradeoff considerations:
- No Escape with Withering Fire - For better Special & Elite clearing vs. better Boss damage
- Serrated Maw with Walk It Off - More survivability vs. better Boss damage
- Serrated Maw with Efficient Killer - the tradeoff here is that you will have to micromanage your kill feed when engaging bosses. It's also very situational. I tend to err on the side of more consistent uptime on Talents vs. Micromanaged or situational talents.
H40 TIPS
A few tips when playing the character
- Dog Sitting & Target Prioritization -
- Since you're not running an Exterminator you will need to have your head on a swivel. A lot of this will come down to the Dog.
- Dog Management
- First, let's start by getting your keybinds squared away.
- My marking button is my scroll wheel up button. I use either the 1-&-2 keys or Q button to swap to other weapons. Therefore micro-managing my dog is very easy.
- The second alternative is a mod called "Dog Whistle". Highly customizable and also very well designed. Great mod overall.
- Second, when to send the dog, and when to let the dog fight itself.
- Trappers - Send after trappers right away.
- Mutants - Your puppy has your back.
- Hounds - Your puppy has your back.
- Gunners - Try to close the distance and kill yourself.
- Snipers - Try to close the distance and kill yourself. If not, close the distance and send dog.
- You don't want to send the dog for something miles away. It is your insurance policy against the Boltgun's clumsiness.
- Third, when to Detonate
- Since you only have 2 charges now.
- If at 2 - maneuver dog at start of fight and detonate
- If at 1 - Save. This is your get-out-of-jail card if you don't have Castigator or need a way out.
- Since you only have 2 charges now.
- Fourth, when all else fails
- Sprint+Slide+Weapon Swap. This will shave off some swap time and allow you to get your weapon out a bit faster and minimize the clumsiness.
- First, let's start by getting your keybinds squared away.
- Boss Fights
- If Dog at 2 Charges. Save Castigator.
- Target Boss with Dog. Let the dog latch on to cause Brittleness.
- Detonate
- Blast in the face.
- If at 2 charges - Detonate
- If Dog at 1 or 0 Charges. Use Castigator.
- Start blasting away into the bosses face.
- If Dog at 2 Charges. Save Castigator.
- Clutch Revives - Either use the dog to clear the fodder near the body, or pop Castigator if clutch needed. If not, Arby is a great revive class and should have no problem getting them back up with the build I showcase as evidenced by the 2 revives and 7 rescues.
