Description
In Havoc, elites and specialists are sufficiently common that Confirmed Kill triggers constantly, and the Plasma Gun is specifically designed to secure those kills. It provides much stronger recovery when fighting the enemies that actually threaten to break your Toughness.
Recommended Setup
- Confirmed Kill
- Only in Death Does Duty End
- Drop Out for Blood
The exception is lower-difficulty Heresy missions, where enemy density is weighted more toward basic hordes and teammates may rarely go down. There, Out for Blood is more consistent and the revive upgrade is less valuable. For a single configuration intended to cover Heresy through Havoc, however, dropping Out for Blood is the better decision.
Combat Loop
- Tag the most dangerous elite or boss before firing.
- Use ordinary Plasma shots for specialists, gunners and most elites.
- Use charged shots for bosses, armour or dense lines where the additional damage matters.
- Throw Krak or Shredder Frags into mixed melee formations to stagger them and create room.
- Use Voice of Command before the team loses control, not only after toughness has broken.
- Draw the Duelling Sword whenever enemies enter melee range; use charged heavy weakspot attacks against elites and mobility/dodges to reposition.
- Do not spend Plasma ammunition on unarmoured trash unless it is blocking a critical shot.
How to use Focus Target correctly
Against bosses, monstrosities and isolated Crushers: allow all six stacks to accumulate before tagging. This gives the team the full 30% amplification.
During elite waves: do not hold the tag indefinitely waiting for six stacks. Mark the highest-priority enemy, kill it, then immediately mark the next threat. Redirect Fire and Target Down reward repeatedly finishing marked enemies.
Do not waste the tag on basic horde enemies unless no elite, specialist or boss is present. Priority targets are:
- Monstrosities and bosses
- Crushers and Bulwarks
- Reapers and elite gunners
- Flamers, bombers, trappers and disablers
- Ragers or Maulers threatening the team
The main tradeoff is that this setup gives up some personal melee attack-speed and weapon-switch bonuses, but gains stronger boss damage, teamwide damage amplification, group sustain and Plasma effectiveness—the better package for coordinated or public Havoc play. Current Veteran guidance likewise distinguishes Focus Target as the boss/team-oriented route and Weapon Specialist as the more self-contained hybrid route.
