With Weapons Specialist and Agile Engagement you want to get melee kills constantly, and quick swap to the Plasma gun to fire one shot (which is always a crit after the 3rd melee kill), and then swap back to melee. 
Doing this will grant you 25% increased dmg, >40% Toughness in <2s, refill ammo, and grant 15% attack speed and 10% dodge speed.
Plasma gun can take out any target, and it never explodes if you only left click. This allows you to use shitty melee weapons like Chainsword which can't kill Crusher quickly.
