Auric Maelstroms and Hi-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlet missions are peppered with an insane number of ranged enemies and specialists. If I had to put a number to it, probably around half of all my failed runs on either modifier is because of a lack of ammo or resources to deal with ranged enemies or specialists. You simply don't get enough resources to deal with them and on some maps, eventually you just run out of resources. Especially if you have dead teammates. This build was made to combat this. This build laughs in the face of Hi-Intensity Shock Troop Gauntlets and would do even better if they doubled the amount of ranged enemies, elites and specials.
This build is made to do one thing really well, support your team. We support the team by providing resources and never using any aside from healing stations, and specialize in removing ranged enemies, especially the regular kind that most others don't have the ammo to deal with anymore.
The mark 12 isn't the highest DPS lasgun anymore, in fact, it's the worst of the bunch numbers-wise. But it hits hard for the ammo it uses and has, you will never require an ammo pickup when playing in auric missions. The best thing about the mark 12 compared to the other lasguns, is that it is less reliant on the talent tree, perks or blessings to hit it's breakpoints. Thanks to Focus target you will 1 shot every non-ogryn sized ranged enemy in the game, reliably and without crits.
This means more ammo for your team, in addition to the survivalist you're already bringing to the table. You can comfortably and reliably weakspot kill anything in the game, including crushers thanks to how critical hits work with armor. If you want more damage then move some points into Precision strikes and Superiority Complex, but then you're not doing what the build is made to do above all else, support the team.
The mark 4 chainsword with savage sweep OR wrath (dealer's choice) can comfortably deal with anything that comes your way in melee. The bloodletter is there to help make priority targets go away even faster, and you'd be surprised how much damage it does on a chaos spawn or if you just rev it twice between your krak grenades and voice of command. You can quickly dispatch muties coming your way by preparing a rev, sidestep dodging, and attacking them as they pass you. The rev attack will follow through and kill them, despite them going out of your range.
Krak grenades help clear out hordes high-density hordes faster than the frag grenade does, and take care of both armored targets and monstrosities. Field improvisation will help the team out if you're in a tough spot and will make ogryns with tactical nukes giggle with glee. Especially when you tell them that they get an extra ammo pickup and grenade from the crate since you have no need of yours.
