Description
Keep safe the small minded
The witch zweihanders feel great, but after playing around with them in various Scrier's Gaze Gundalf builds I couldn't shake the inconsistent feel. Time to get back to basics and build something solid; good ranged and melee, mobile and with a trick up the sleeve.
Playstyle weaves between ranged and melee, staying in high Peril to milk Malefic Momentum , Warp Rider , One with the Warp , Unstable Power and Warp Nexus to fullest.
Playstyle tl/dr: Low Peril use shards and staff, high Peril melee. Whenever your peril drops, dodge back for few shards or a charged staff shot, dive back in. Throw shields in front of bad guys.
- Malefic Momentum is the name of the game, keep switching between melee, sword blast, shards and staff.
- Equinox Mk III Voidblast Force Staff is the new entry to deal better with angry ogryns trying to eat your rations. I used to prefer Equinox Mk IV Voidstrike Force Staff but the Crusher hp buff diminished it as an anti-armor tool. Also since we are mostly in close to mid combat the Blast is right at home here.
- Only need one or two well aimed blasts to stagger an entire elite group and debuff them with brittleness, ready to get chopped up. Rending Shockwave is the hero here, Warp Nexus is best individual support since you shouldn't be continuously blasting.
- The staff is not all about big blasts, the Left click primary attack is good for quick precision shots on soft targets and works while on the move.
- Assail quick throw cloud of shards deals with hordes, all sorts of shooters and non-carapace elite packs.
- Very mobile, you can dodge back from melee to quickly throw few shards, then dive back in. Fire and forget.
- Covenant Mk VI Blaze Force Greatsword to finish what's left standing, or cut the next wave.
- Prefer Mk6 for better elite damage on heavy strikes. Still has very good horde clear on LLLH combo.
- Use charge attack liberally when it's available, half charge already nukes a horde pack.
- Wrath is not needed when keeping Peril high for Warp Splitting (easy with Assail , sword charge attack and staff), so I prefer Unstable Power. Riposte is for more damage and conveniently activates when dealing with big targets that are easy to dodge.
- Defense
- Telekine Shield allows to safely charge in on shooters and protect team when they get exposed. Great all around defensive talent makes the greatsword work a lot smoother.
- Lately I've been enjoying the Wall with Enervating Threshold & Bolstered Shield to stop specials spam in their tracks, while still providing cover from shooters. Bubble is of course a valid option too.
- Anticipation is very good on the greatsword, allowing more flexibility in melee.
- Kinetic Deflection help control melee when you have lot of things in your face.
- Quietude , Warp Expenditure & Mettle keep your Toughness topped up in all situations, both melee and casting.
- Telekine Shield allows to safely charge in on shooters and protect team when they get exposed. Great all around defensive talent makes the greatsword work a lot smoother.
- Other
- Disrupt Destiny is beneficial to every weapon in the build, great all around boost. Since it was updated to stacks lasting 5 seconds, Perfectionism & Cruel Fortune is now easier to manage and keeps you rolling in high stacks in the thick of things.
- True Aim improves Assail crit rate quite a bit..
- Psykinetic's Aura being now available for all psyker builds is just so sweet cooldown reduction.
A sturdy complete package that feels good in melee and is dangerous at range, can deal with any kinds of enemies and does top damage, like a cool jedi ninja edgelord.
