+++THE GUIDE+++
HAVOC 40 capable
A powerful yet easy to use build. While using this build you have great damage, amazing tankines and great crowd control. This build is havoc 40 tested and works really well, trivializing the game.
HOW TO USE
MELEE WEAPON
The "Brunt's Basher" Mk IIIb Bully Club competes for ogryns strongest weapon thanks to great damage, crowd control and can turn nearly unkillable. It uses primarily light attacks which thanks to being fast and having decent attack angles make them versatile against any target. Confident Strike allows you to not worry about getting hit, with how much toughness it generates while using lights. Skullcrusher works great with how much stagger this weapon dishes out buffing your damage to respectable level. Flak and carapace perks help with armored elites which are the weapons biggest (albeit still small) weakness.
Other weapons worth taking:
- Karsolas Mk II Delver's Pickaxe - a decent option better if you want better single target damage. Blessings: Headtaker, Slaughterer perks: Flak, carapace.
- Krourk Mk IV Cleaver - another versatile choice though a bit more complicated while not being much better than the club. Blessings: Tenderiser, Slaughterer perks: Flak, carapace.
RANGED WEAPON
The Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler is ogryns best choice for dealing with crowds of elites and monsters. It has great ammo sustain especially with Survivalist. Adhesive Charge buffs damage against enemies that are most dangerous and helps with sticking to them. Shattering Impact help a lot in havoc where the amount of armored enemies is very high but is decent even outside of it.
Other weapons worth taking:
- Achlys Mk II Heavy Stubber - good option for sniping specials and gunners. Other marks are also not bad. Blessings: Surgical, Opening Salvo perks: unyielding, carapace.
- Lorenz Mk V Kickback - same as the stubber nut with less ranged and more damage up close. Blessings: Blaze Away, Surgical perks: maniacs, reload speed, unarmored.
- Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun - weakest of the bunch but still a fun alternative. Blessings: Cavalcade, Blaze Away perks: flak, unyielding.
SKILL TREE
BLITZ
Frag Bomb is an amazing panic button to help you deal with potentially run ending situations. Most often you'll be the only one needing grenade boxes so don't be afraid to use it if you see big group of elites.
AURA
Bonebreaker's Aura mostly helps you but the additional damage is good nonetheless.
ABILITY
Indomitable is a powerful ability that grants you more damage thanks to Pulverise, crowd control and buffs to your melee form Stomping Boots. Due to its short cooldown you should use it often especially in higher difficulties where Bruiser is active most of the time.
KEYSTONE
Heavy Hitter is probably the best keystone for ogryn due to the fact that on most build the bulk of a builds power lies in melee. Don't Feel a Thing makes all the toughness generation even better. Bonus attack granted by Just Getting Started! is always great and extra cleave from Great Cleaver helps you a lot in havoc with denser hordes but even outside of that is also good for stacking more bleed on enemies.
REST OF THE TREE
- Heavyweight - great talent for both surviving and dealing with ogryns. You want pretty much always due to giving access to two great talents.
- Smash 'Em!/The Best Defence - two great nodes for generating toughness. Due to how easily you can get them both you want them both in most builds.
- Soften Them Up - amazing talent due to also working for your teammates. Always take it.
- Payback Time - another amazing talent due to the fact that it should be always active while fighting. Always take it.
- Strongman - this talent gets better the higher the difficulty where it has more uptime and being reliable. Best in many builds and always good if your uncertain which talent to get.
- Strike True - an ok talent taken mostly for the talent below it.
- Batter - a must have in most builds due to how good bleed is. Immensely helps with horde clear monstrosities and elites.
- Delight in Destruction - this talent makes Batter even better. Because you apply bleed with all melee attacks this will always be active and 32% less damage taken is always welcome.
- Frenzied Blows - it always active in melee and more attack speed is always good.
- Dominate - this talent helps a bit with armor and has good uptime.
- Bruiser - a must have in every build. Cooldown regeneration is always really good and because it works when allies kill the elites it has a lot of uptime.
- Get Stuck In - not a great talent but works nicely with Indomitable. Taken for the talent below.
- No Hurting Friends! - another very good talent thanks to the fact that it works on toughness damage taken. It has good up time and strength is somewhat hard to come by but also gives you a lot.
- Keep Shooting - good talent while using Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler or Lorenz Mk V Kickback. if your using other ranged weapons consider instead taking:
- Pumped Up - ok talent but without Slam is unreliable.
- Focused Fighter - makes you even harder to kill in melee. bit of an overkill at this point.
- Steady Grip - nice for having a way to regen toughness with no enemies close by.
- toughness node below Strongman - more toughness is always good.
CURIOS
BLESSINGS
3x toughness is the best choice for ogryn. So more toughness will help you more especially with how much you can generate.
other blessings:
- Stamina - While stamina is valuable for other classes ogryn needs it the least while having most base stamina. Also stam regen takes care of your stamina needs.
- Health - taking this over toughness only wastes potential that ogryn can get from toughness and how much of it you can recover.
- Wounds - NEVER take wounds on any class(except a zealot with Martyrdom) it is much better to take something which will help you with staying alive rather than being able to be downed more.
PERKS
Best perks:
- Toughness - same as with blessings, you want as much of it as you can amass.
- CDR - same as with the talents, more ability spam = more damage.
- Stamina regeneration - this helps you take care of your stamina needs letting you take more toughness.
- Gunners resistance - decent but you don't want to use many of due to how they stack(multiplicatively instead of additively which means that 3x is NOT +60%). Use it to potentially replace the stamina regen.
Decent perks:
- Health - same as with blessings.
Notably BAD perks:
- Toughness regeneration speed - biggest noob trap in the game!!! It only affects coherency toughness regeneration which is not only slow, requires teammates to work but also doesn't work with enemies nearby. NEVER USE IT.
- most resistances - most of them are useless for most of the game and when they do work they don't do that much for what you sacrifice.
- sprint efficiency - it does very little and doesn't help as much as the best perks.
- block efficiency/Revive speed - both of these only really help when someone is downed and even then they are only useful when there's a bunch of enemies around.
