Description
Ogryn Armor Cracker
Are you tired of dealing with Rotten Armor and not really having any good options as an Ogryn and feeling like you aren't contributing enough. Well do not fear, this build is the answer to it. This build allows you to clear hordes of armored enemies while achieving comparable damage to a Psyker using a Rifthaven Mk II Inferno Force Staff. This is achieved by unlocking the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler's maxium potential by using three key talents, more on that later.
The Kit
The Weapons you will use are the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler as your main stay weapon and any of the Bully Clubs. Though I personally prefer the "Brunt's Pride" Mk II Bully Club for its moveset and horde clear capabilites. As For the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler you will be using it with The Blessings Shrapnel and Blaze Away. Though if you want to you can substitue Blaze Away for Blast Zone if you really want to lean into the whole explosion thing, though your damage will suffer for it. If so desired the Unyielding Perk on the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler can be swapped for the Flak Armored Perk, if you want fully lean into the Armor Cracker Role. As for your Melee weapon you can use any of the Bully Clubs with Haymaker and Thunderous or Skullcrusher if you don't care about applying brittleness and want better horde clear. For your Blitz you'll be using the Big Friendly Rock as it gives you an unlimited source to deal with any special coming your way. However, you can also use Bombs Away! or the Frag Bomb alternatively if you wish to do so.
For your Curios you'll be running with three +17% Max Toughness Curious with the perks shown above, though you could swap one of the Thoughness Curios for a +21% Max Health Curio as this allows you to tank a Crusher overhead on havoc 40. But this really shouldn't happen in the first place to be fair. As for the perks the really are non-negotiable as your need all of them. Although you could make a case to swap "Ally revive speed" for something else. But I wouldn't recommend doing so as it has allowed me to clutch victory from the jaws of defeat to many times.
The Ability that makes it work
The Ability that makes the dream and the build work is Point-Blank Barrage used in conjuction with its supporting nodes Bullet Bravado and Hail of Fire and the powerhouse that is the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler. Furthermore, when paired with Fire Away, Reloaded and Ready, Burst Limiter Override, Bulletstorm and the Shrapnel and Blaze Away Blessing on your Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler the build really starts to shine. The Talent Fire Away and the Blessing Shrapnel paired with the Talent Big Boom allows you to apply Bleed and Fire Stacks to almost anything in the arena or just outright delete it. The effectivness of these DoT stacks are further compounded by all the damage boosting from Reloaded and Ready, Burst Limiter Override, Bulletstorm, Blaze Away and the Ranged Damage Boost node. All of this combined allows you to clear hordes of (carpace) armored enemies in seconds and prevents your team from being overrun. All the while your Boss damage is still amazing and you can clear any of them with a few shots of the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler, only really struggling with Scab Captain and Rinda Karnak & Rodin Karnak while their shields are up. As an further damage-boosting alternative you can swap Mobile Emplacement for Pacemaker at the cost of survivability as you are guaranteed to proc it on every shot with the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler. The same goes for a potential swap of Strongman or Can't Hit Me...Again for Keep Shooting, though for havoc I would suggest to keep Can't Hit Me...Again as it is one of the best ways to minimize ranged damage.
Pro-Tipp: In order to maximize the uptime of Point-Blank Barrage you want to utilize Back Off! and Maximum Firepower as much as possible as these two talents have amazing sinergy. You therefore want to go into Meele every so often in order to build up stacks of Back Off! in order to trigger Lucky Bullet and thus Maximum Firepower which is made easier by the Haymaker Blessing. These to things combinded allow you to effectively reduced the cooldown of Point-Blank Barrage to ~57sec, which can be further reduced by the Psyker's Aura Seer's Presence and the Hive Scum's Stimm Supply. In order to maximize your ammo efficency and your use of the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler try to mostly use it while Point-Blank Barrage is active or you have 8 or more stacks of Back Off!. Your ammo economy can be further boosted by having a Veteran with the Survivalist aura on your team and/or a Hive Scum with Gunslinger Improved. Also if you have Hive Scum on the team she/he can bring rending on their stimm supply which further boosts your damage.
Melee Combat
In Meele Combat you will be using the "Brunt's Pride" Mk II Bully Club to clear stragglers and build up stacks of Back Off! which allows you to get the odd free shot in with your Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler. However, you aren't completely useless in meele as Haymaker helps you with (mixed) hordes and the Talents Smash 'Em!, The Best Defence, Strike True and Batter ensure your aren't completely incapable in meele. For Single Target damage your Combo is H1+H2 for the "Brunt's Pride" Mk II Bully Club while for Horde Clear you use H1+L2 while mixxing in Push + Push attack when needed. If the horde becomes to dense the stacks Back Off! allow you to use your Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler into hordes while not expending any ammo. As mentioned before you can swap Thunderous for Skullcrusher to help you with horde clear and overall damage output as the Bully Clubs have pretty good stagger. Nonetheless, you should try to use Melee only when needed and rely on your Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler and Point-Blank Barrage as much as possible.
Strengths
- Horde Clear
- Armor Removal
- Boss Damage
- Stagger
- Ammo Economy (especially with Survivalist and/or Gunslinger Improved on the team)
- Comparable damage to Psykers using Rifthaven Mk II Inferno Force Staff meta builds
Weaknesses
- Less ammo for other classes (if there's no Veteran on the team)
- Less Capable in Melee than standard Ogryn Bawler
- Straved for Talent points <= Less Build flexebility
- Long cooldown of Point-Blank Barrage even with all the possible CDR
Conclusion
In Conclusion, this build is for anyone that wants an alternative to the normal Unga-Bunga gameplay style the Ogryn often tends to fall into. This is achieved my unlocking the Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler's full potential by using Point-Blank Barrage, Hail of Fire, Fire Away and other supporting nodes and Blessings that further boost its damage while not completely giving up on your Melee capabilites. So why not give this build a shot and give the Heretics of Admontion a bombastic welcoming party!
