Description
Shroudfield — The Ambulance and Emergency Button
This is an aggressive crit/bleed built around Shroudfield , Blazing Piety , and Invocation of Death .
The basic idea is simple: keep fighting, keep moving, keep killing, and turn that aggression into more opportunities to use Shroudfield . The build isn't designed around sitting safely at range or deliberately maintaining low health. It wants to be in the middle of the fight, constantly taking advantageous melee engagements and exploiting openings.
Backstabber , Duellist , Scourge , Enduring Faith , Bleed for the Emperor and Blazing Piety all reinforce the same playstyle: aggressive melee combat creates crits, bleed, damage and toughness sustain, while Elite kills and critical hits help keep the build's momentum going.
Shroudfield is more than an assassination button
The most important part of the build is Master-Crafted Shroudfield combined with Invigorating Revelation .
Shroudfield can obviously be used to delete a priority target from behind, but that isn't its only purpose. I treat it as an emergency button.
- Need to reach a downed teammate? Shroudfield .
- Need to get out of a bad melee situation? Shroudfield .
- Need to cross a dangerous area to revive someone? Shroudfield .
- Need to assassinate an Elite or Specialist? Shroudfield .
- Need to disengage after making a catastrophically stupid decision? Also Shroudfield .
Invigorating Revelation makes entering stealth an actual defensive reset rather than merely an offensive setup, which is a major part of why the build can afford to play aggressively.
The support component
This isn't a pure assassin build.
Providence , Until Death , Holy Revenant and Shield of Contempt give the build a considerable amount of emergency survivability, while Beacon of Purity provides additional team utility.
Most importantly, Providence makes reviving and assisting teammates substantially safer.
The ideal Zealot play isn't necessarily "I killed the most things."
It's "I was somewhere nobody else could safely be, and therefore I could fix the situation."
If someone is trapped, disabled or downed in the middle of a horde, this build can often turn an otherwise impossible rescue into a routine one.
Stay mobile.
Don't stand still unless there is a reason to.
Take melee engagements aggressively, but don't confuse aggression with blindly attacking whatever is closest. Constantly look for the next advantageous position.
Prioritize Elites and dangerous targets when appropriate, use your crit/bleed mechanics to maintain pressure, and use Shroudfield whenever stealth gives you a meaningful tactical advantage.
The build rewards decision-making more than a fixed rotation.
There isn't really a "combo" that has to be performed perfectly. Instead, you're constantly asking:
- What is currently the biggest threat?
- Can I kill it?
- Can I get behind it?
- Is someone else in danger?
- Can I reach them safely?
- Do I need to disengage?
- Is Shroudfield better spent offensively or defensively?
- Can I afford to take this fight, or am I about to turn a manageable situation into a disaster?
That flexibility is the point.
Weapons
The Catachan Mk III Combat Blade is essential because you use it to violate the speeding limit!
Combat blade:
You can use a different melee, but you are at that point no longer running from damage. You are tanky with this build because you are like 5% slower than a charging mutie - you can actually just stab them in the back as you run after them. I also dodge - heavy attack to close distance and only light attack versus hordes, unyielding, and unarmored enemies. So blessings with "repeatedly hit" in the text aren't for me, but you can for sure play light attack spam!
Literally any combination of blessing works and honestly preference.
BLESSINGS (the ones I consider/tried)
Any bleed - GREAT! But I prefer on demand damage. Wouldn't call it wrong, just not my preferenece.
Precognition - good but imo too short and sometimes I am simply not the target so charging it becomes weird. I want on demand damage.
Executor - Requires build-up
Ruthless Backstab - my GOAT 100% rending on backstab (Rending increased damage, so 2x damage on top of crit)! It doesn't required ramping and is quite easy to activate!
Riposte - if it was 2s it'd be trash, but 6s is basically a lifetime. You could dodge, revive 2 teammates (with my curios that is ~5s time investment) and still have 20% extra crit. No brainer if you ask me.
Ranged:
Anything goes! I have tried and used:
Zarona Mk VI Combat Shotgun (Deathspitter + Fire Frenzy )
Accatran MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol (Infernus + Raking Fire )
Zarona Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver (Hand-Cannon + Surgical )
Godwyn-Branx Mk VI Bolt Pistol (Run 'n' Gun + Deadly Accurate )
Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun (Hit & Run + Deathspitter )
So You can try anything but try to take stuff that is light and fast or can clear a horde. For context, I think the Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer is waaaay too slow and I want to be able to kill a sniper in the distance which the flamer is not great at. Nowadays I play Accatran MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol (Infernus + Raking Fire ) or Locke Mk IIb Spearhead Boltgun because it's a big "FUCK YOU!" to any problem in front of you and it's still quite accurate. which is to say: Pack whatever ranged weapon you like!
