Build Alternatives :

  1. Telling you that the Brute-Brainer Mk XIX Latrine Shovel is the best weapon would be a lie. The Achlys Mk I Power Maul is a much more polyvalent weapon that allow you to ether clear large pack hordes of enemies or kill a heavily armored target in one special hit, making it the best side weapon to use with Point-Blank Barrage. The Branx Mk Ia Delver's Pickaxe is a better weapon to handle Crusher even without investing talent tree points. Telling you the truth, the main reason as to why i am not using ether is due to diversity reasons and not using similar weapons to builds i recently created. BUT do not underestimate the Brute-Brainer Mk XIX Latrine Shovel ether, it'll one special hit kill any lower armored target and provide exellent damage against any boss bosses, it'll drop Scab Mauler in 2 special hits and Crusher in 3 + 1 heavy normal hit. Make your choice ;)
  2. The Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun and the Foe-Rend Mk V Ripper Gun are similar in idea, and the raw damage of each bullet doesn't matter that much here, the main idea being stacking bleed and burn DoT on targets trough critical hits and Point-Blank Barrage + Light 'em Up. You could technically swap between both, the only condition being that you swap the ammo value and stability value. The Foe-Rend Mk V Ripper Gun needing the 80% stability to function, while the Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun do not.
  3. Big Friendly Rock was taken here without any additional point here, mainly due to the talent point being better spent elsewhere. The Rock being used in this build to kill off long range enemies ( Scab Sniper and Dreg Gunner ), kill off Mutant and Scab Trapper and staggering Monstrosities on weakspot hits. If, for any reason, you desire more raw power, or do not think you need high range, you can exchange it for Frag Bomb.
  4. This build isn't very lenient when it comes to talent tree point allocation. The only perk you could change is Bulletstorm. Heat of Battlecan be something to consider, it'll be about the same dps ( damage per second ) due to the boost of fire rate, but each individual bullet will do less, it'll also reduce the damage of your DoT ( damage over time ) and make you loose ammo quicker which also make you have to change magazines more often. Slam can be interisting just to allow you to stagger that much easier, which can become a life saving tool. If you do end up swapping Big Friendly Rock for Frag Bomb, Big Boom become relevent.

Strength :

  • Under Point-Blank Barrage, everything ( at the exception of Crusher ) dies. 16 stacks of bleeds applied by Flechette and 16 stacks of burns applied by Light 'em Up on top of the raw damage of each pellet ( each shot being separated into many pellets ) hitting a target. The interisting part is that for burns and bleeds to be applied, you do not need to hit the target with a large ammount of pellets or in the middle. even a single pellet far away from the where you were shooting is enough. Poxwalkers ( like mohebian 21st ) hordes cleared without issue, mixed hordes the same, Monstrosities bleeding out to the raw DoT damage and any additional damage you can do. Finally, Scab Captain shields are weak against any form of multihit weapon, which turns out, the Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun is ! each pellet hitting the shield count indepedently, surpassing the damage limit per hit that the shield possess. Under Point-Blank Barrage, no shield can resist you, making killing twins a much easier task.
  • Payback Time, Strongman and Pumped Up paired with Steady Grip and Mobile Emplacement while bracing allow you to regenerate and maintain high levels of toughness. Even more so when under Bullet Bravado effects.
  • No grenade being used in the original version of this build keep the grenade economy of your team very high.
  • Even so you are not a Loyal Protector ogryn, or a melee ogryn for that matter, the raw ammount of damage and horde clear you give is enough to create an important ammount of space. Meanwhile staggering smaller enemies isn't an issue ether due to the raw impact your melee hits do.
  • Massacre and Lucky Streak enchance your crit chance and damage output on crits, this apply not only for your range fight but also your melee ! which means that a heavy special hit from your Brute-Brainer Mk XIX Latrine Shovel can go up to 14k damage ( the maximum i saw in oone hit )

Weakness :

  • You are heavily relient on your uptime of Point-Blank Barrage and your ammo capacity. No Point-Blank Barrage means much tougher if not impossible fights. No ammo, means having to fight with an under buffed melee weapon and rocks. Basically, knowing when you should use Point-Blank Barrage and when you shouldn't, when you should use ammo outside of PBB and when you shouldn't. The general idea being, use Point-Blank Barrage every time you have a large ammount of enemy comming your way, and do not use your ability nor ammo if it's too far away to be effective. If you find an enemy you can kill easily and safely ( ether with rocks or melee ) then it is preferable to do so rather than spending your ammo.
  • Crusher are basically a nightmare. you need 3 full Thrust heavy special hits + 1 heavy hit in melee, and DoTs kill them slowly. I find the best way to kill them is to chain Point-Blank Barrage against them ( preferably doing so killing other enemies around to not waste too much, i never use PBB just for 3 crushers ) chained with special heavy hits. If your team isn't aware enough to help you with them while you clear everything else, you're in for a bad time.
  • Armored hordes can become an issue ( not Moebian 21st ). Scab Mauler stop pellets rather than going trough the normal enemies and take longer to kill generally. This will ask more care of you than the typical go in and hit ogryn.
  • Even having exellent trigger managment, you will still influence the ammo economy of your team significantly. Keep in mind that Point-Blank Barrage refund 50% of the ammo you use, also care to always take ammo when you need it, not when you know you still have enough to be used paired with your ability. ( Think of it as in you own 50% more ammo than your maximum due to the refund ). Considering it, it would be best to have a Survivalist veteran on your side, if not, at least avoid ammo heavy teams with this build as you will not be able to sustain it.

Conclusion :

I will always say that the builds i create are fun and strong, not only because i was the one who created them, but also because i wouldn't allow myself to post anything that doesn't answer to those creterias and that haven't been tested at the highest level of play ( havoc 40 ). Even so, this build have something peculiar, something more than the usual. It allow you to be a range fighter that fight at very close range and survive to tell the tale.

You do not need the space that a typical Achlys Mk VII Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber or Achlys Mk II Heavy Stubber needs.                                                                 You do not use the typical Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler sets that simply make everything go boom using a weapon very much in the meta.

You are using weapons that are very much out of the meta and have glaring weaknesses ( in both the Brute-Brainer Mk XIX Latrine Shovel and the Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun ) in a combination that reveal both the strength they possess and there capacity to strongly carry the highest level of play.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 You fight around the area a normal Orox Mk II & Mk III Battle Maul & Slab Shield + Loyal Protector Ogryn would fight in, creating the space he would at most times, being able to play both in front and behind your team for the same effectiveness.                                                                                 The natural stagger of an ogryn melee hits paired with one of the highest damage output range play ( went up to 3.6 million damage in a game while having the usual Rifthaven Mk II Inferno Force Staff + Venting Shriek psyker on the team )

As long as the team you are in isn't one that use too much ammo, or use them badly, you fit any comp in existence while providing underniable benefits in any form of situation. The only mission type i would avoid would be Rotten Armour due to the raw ammount of high armor targets ( but that might not be true anymore due to them now being infested type rather than carapace. then will have to be tested next time it is available. )

Once again, i propose to you a buyild that isn't meta, nor made to be. One that as usual require slightly more care than the no brain meta we can have nowadays. Yet strong, unreasonnably so, and extremely fun to play. A unique playstyle from a class that easily have the least variation of play. Will work at any and every level of play, and anything below havoc 30 will be a breeze.

I encourage you to try it out and tell me what you think ! ;) ( Giselle5957 on discord ;) )
