Damage output is generally so high, you can grab most melee weapons of your liking.
My personal top recommendations for alternative melees are;

Cadia Mk IV Assault Chainsword
The bone saw can also be a nice choice if you want more DoTs and more stimm uptime.
Ranged options are prefered to deal with distant elites like snipers and gunners, grab something you can reliable hit mid-range with.

Branx MkVIII Dual Stub Pistols
The needle pistol can also help you deal with larger targets by just poisoning the crap out of them, but doesn't instantly take care of important threats with a bullet or two.
